The Anglican Mission and the Prayer Book Society of the USA have produced as a cooperative effort contemporary English forms of the services of the classical Anglican Prayer Book. These services are entitled Services in Contemporary English from the Book of Common Prayer of 1662 and are intended for very limited trial use in selected Anglican Mission churches. The goal is to develop services in contemporary English that are close to those of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and adhere to its Biblical and classical teaching with an eye to replacing the 1979 Book of Common Prayer that a number of Anglican Mission churches are continuing to use. The 1979 Prayer Book has been criticized for its defective theology that departs significantly from the doctrine and principles embodied in the classical Anglican Prayer Book.
