Which version of the Bible is most often used by Episcopalians? NIV, KJV, NRSV, NCV? Thank you for your help.

Also, if you have any suggestions for good books for newbies, I'd love to hear them. I am exploring the Episcopal Church coming from a Catholic background. I have also gone to Orthodox, Methodist and a variety of non-denominational churches and so far I feel the strongest connection with the Episcopalians. Thank you for your help.

Hi Herfy, welcome!
By far the most commonly used Bible version in church is the NRSV. I use this version, along with the REB (Revised English Bible). Another version that popular with evangelicals is the English Standard Version-this version however does not presently contain the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books that Anglicans use in the liturgy. I've seen copies of the NIV in parish church libraries, so some people must have or still use it. For all its beauty, the KJV is not now widely used.
A good introductory book is "Welcome to the Episcopal Church: An Introduction to Its History, Faith, and Worship" by Christopher L. Webber, which I've seen in Borders bookstore, and which is available through Amazon.

I am Catholic, but am strongly considering joining the Episcopal Church.
